Every photographer remembers their first session.
Mine was a couples photography session- and I was terrified.
As a brand-new photographer, I walked into that shoot with my camera, a vision, and a whole lot of nerves. I kept wondering if the lighting was right, if my clients felt comfortable, and if I was even doing a good job. From the outside, I probably looked confident. On the inside, I was panicking.
That session meant everything to me.
It was my first time photographing a real couple as a professional photographer, and I wanted every image to be perfect. I wanted them to love their photos. I wanted to prove to myself that I belonged in this industry.
But when the session ended, doubt took over.
I packed up my camera, got in my car, and called my sister.
And then I cried.
I told her I wasn’t cut out for photography. That I had probably disappointed my clients. That maybe this dream wasn’t realistic. I truly believed I had failed.
When I got home, I uploaded the gallery.
And everything changed.
The photos were beautiful.
They were natural. Emotional. Warm. Full of connection. The moments I thought I messed up were actually the strongest images. The poses I worried about looked effortless. The session I thought was a disaster was anything but.
That night, I learned one of the most important lessons in my photography journey: we are often our own worst critics.
That first couples session changed everything for me.
It taught me that growth doesn’t feel confident at first. It feels uncomfortable. It feels scary. It feels like crying in your car. But it also feels like learning, improving, and discovering your purpose.
Since that first shoot, that same client has trusted me with two additional photography sessions. That kind of loyalty means more to me than I can explain. It reminded me why I do this.
If you’ve ever felt nervous in front of my camera, I understand.
If you’ve ever doubted yourself, I’ve been there.
And if you’re trusting me with your memories, please know how seriously I take that responsibility. As a portrait and couples photographer in Northwest Georgia, my goal is always to create images that feel real, emotional, and beautiful. Images that tell your story honestly.
To my very first clients: thank you for believing in me before I fully believed in myself.
To my sister: thank you for answering the phone that day.
And to every family, couple, and senior who has supported my small business- thank you.
This is only the beginning. 💛
If you’re looking for a photographer who cares deeply about your experience and your memories, I would love to work with you.
